In today’s digital landscape, the ability to adeptly manage virtual machines (VMs) can make all the difference in streamlining operations and harnessing the power of data. Lucidity’s Auto-Scaler has championed this cause, providing an industry-first solution that automates the dynamic resizing of onboarded VMs based on actual data usage. While ensuring that there is always a sufficient buffer of free space, our primary goal has been to provide you with an efficient and hassle-free disk management.

At Lucidity, we believe in continuous innovation and further improving the user experience. Recognizing the evolving demands of our customers, we’re thrilled to roll out a more refined, customizable disk expansion and shrinking feature. We believe that this will redefine the way you interact with and manage your disk storage.

The configurable policy feature is accessible from the ‘Managed VMs’ page. Clicking on the ‘Manage Policy’  button will allow you to create your own custom policy. This is where you can set the target utilization, desired buffer size and the maximum disk size that you wish to define.

Why is this feature a game changer?

  1. Specify Your Desired % Utilization: Gone are the days of one-size-fits-all solutions. Now, you can define the exact percentage of utilization that triggers the auto-scaler, ensuring that your VMs are always operating within your desired parameters.

  1. Custom Buffer Size: Every business has unique requirements. With our new feature, you can set the buffer size that aligns perfectly with your operational needs, ensuring you always have that extra space when you need it.

  1. Determine the Maximum Disk Size: Safety and efficiency go hand in hand. By specifying the maximum disk size, you're taking control, ensuring your VMs scale optimally without ever overstepping the limits you've set.

One of the standout features of this feature is the ability to attach policies to specific instances. This allows you to do a couple of things:

  1. Consistency Across Volumes: When you attach a policy to an instance, it gets uniformly applied to all onboarded volumes of that instance. This removes the inconsistencies that can arise when managing each volume separately.

  1. Streamlined Operations: This feature reduces the number of configurations a user has to manage. Rather than adjusting policies on individual volumes, you make a single policy change, and it's automatically reflected everywhere.
