Lucidity adds autonomous performance optimization to AutoScaler, unifying capacity and performance management for cloud block storage

The new capability enables enterprises to set minimum IOPS and/or throughput thresholds via policies, allowing Lucidity to manage both capacity and performance requirements across their cloud block storage, autonomously and at scale.
Many enterprise workloads, from SQL databases to high-throughput applications, demand specific performance levels from their underlying storage. Today, ensuring the right level of IOPS and throughput requires manual, disk-by-disk management across cloud providers. DevOps and infrastructure teams spend significant time tuning disk tiers, adjusting disk sizes, and provisioning higher-performance disk types to meet application requirements. This overhead compounds as environments grow, pulling engineering resources away from higher-value work.
With autonomous performance optimization, AutoScaler users can now define minimum IOPS and throughput levels directly in their optimization policies. For all VMs governed by that policy, Lucidity will ensure both capacity and performance requirements are met, using the cloud provider’s native disk types that support customized IOPS provisioning.

How does Lucidity manage capacity and performance together?
AutoScaler was originally designed to optimize capacity and utilization, dynamically expanding and shrinking disks with no downtime to match actual usage and reduce over-provisioned storage. While IOPS was usually not affected, or even often increased, there was no way to ensure above-default levels of IOPS were maintained as capacity changed.
Autonomous performance optimization brings that ability. By adding performance thresholds into the same policy framework that governs capacity, Lucidity becomes the only tool that handles both together.
